THE JOINT RECOGNITION OF PRESIDENT EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU AS A CHAMPION BY UNIDO, AU FAO UNECA ADB; AN INDICATION ZAMBIA IS ON THE RIGHT ECONOMIC PATH TO INDUSTRIALISTATION THROUGH INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMEN T By Sunday Chilufya Chanda The recent conferring of a medal of recognition on His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu as a Champion of the Third Industrial Decade for Africa (IDDA3) is a momentous boon for Zambia and a reflection of our Head of State’s uncompromised steadfastness to develop Zambia and his passion to better the lives of the citizenry. The eminent stature of the organisations that have conferred this prestigious recognition upon President Lungu is very significant. That the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), African Union (AU), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Development Bank (ADB) have jointly recognised President Edgar Chagwa Lungu in this regard, just shows...

PF MILESTONES ON THE ROAD TO GENDER EQUALITY By Sunday Chilufya Chanda “Yes, as human beings we take a lot of things for granted” Mutinta mumbled to herself in a barely audible whisper as she stared thoughtfully into the starlit night sky. “Iwe Tinta, don’t start counting the stars like Father Abraham! Uza lepela, ta wakwanishe!...It's an impossible task you dont even think about it" Mwamba's voice cut into Mutinta’s brief moment of contemplation. “Ati shani boi? Tell me again, what that man said about taking the stars for granted?” she responded in a shrill tone that mimicked the curiosity of a child. The two lady teachers were house-mates at a newly built Government Technical Secondary School for girls. The two were reflecting on the thoughts of 18th Century American Philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson who asserted that people’s attitude toward the stars would change if the heavenly bodies appeared only once every thousand years. His theorised ...
HAKAINDE AND UPND OUT TO SELL THE HEART AND SOUL OF ZAMBIA By Sunday Chilufya Chanda The nature and tone of a recent justification of anti-Chinese sentiment by UPND  Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka is a mark of dangerous extremism. His elaborate eulogy and extravagant lengthy  portrayal of his party president Mr Hakainde Hichilema as an infallible and omniscient demi-god with a monopoly of wisdom, speaks volumes of why his party is in the state it is in today. It explains why the only political distinction the UPND President has is  wining the wooden spoon five times in a row!  Matters of statecraft need to be approached with sober minds and not with inflated egos and simplistic escapism. Now that Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND abhor the Chinese and its investment in Zambia, in the most unlikely event of them forming Government, would they cut relations with China? Without hiding in semantics, we ask the UPND to tell Zambians wha...

DEALING WITH UNCIVIL AGENDAS IN THE ARENA OF DEVELOPMENT PART 2 :  Why the West Is Opposed to Chinese Investment, What China Does for Africa That the West Doesn't & How Europe has always misunderstood what Africans want. By Sunday Chilufya Chanda “The Economist” is an English-language weekly magazine-format newspaper owned by the Economist Group and edited at offices in London. The publication takes an editorial stance of classical and economic liberalism that is representative of western thought and culture. Eighteen years ago, the Economist ran a story under the grim headline, “The Hopeless Continent”. The article painted a gloomy picture of Africa and it presented a pessimistic thesis that the “world” might just give up on the entire continent with its wars and famines. For the Economist and many in the west, Africa was beyond help, beyond repair and doomed to a future of savagery and underdevelopment. As a San Francisco-based writer and broker- Fr...

HAUNTED NATIONAL ASSET STRIPPING PRIVITASATION FACILITATOR HICHILEMA;  AND HIS EXTERNALLY SPONSORED  LIES AND HATE SPEECH -A DANGEROUS PRELUDE TO XENOPHOBIA By Sunday Chilufya Chanda The extent to which Mr Hakainde Hichilema and Mr Stephen Katuka of the UPND as well as some discredited Civil Society Organisations have gone with their xenophobic web of deceit and fabrication is reprehensible. Their anti-China crusade is an externally funded campaign supported by their imperialist masters of western capital with the overall objective of Mr. Hakainde Hichilema surrendering state resources to western capital for thirty pieces of silver. Hichilema and his cohorts think that the people of Zambia are so gullible that they can fall for the fake BBC and fake twitter accounts as well as fake international reports and phoney video clips being churned out from the UPND factory of hate and ill will. Zambians are discerning and they have already picked out the poll...

REFLECTIONS ON MY BIRTHDAY By Sunday Chilufya Chanda As I celebrate my birthday today I wish to thank Jehovah for adding another day, and another year to my life.I do not take anything for granted; especially God’s Grace and Mercy. I thank God for the many blessings that can so easily be taken for granted - notably my wife, my children as well as family and friends. The simplest things in life give me the greatest pleasure: having a chat with ordinary people on the street, enjoying a simple meal of Zambian delicacies with kith and kin, burning the resulting calories by exercising with others at the gym and reading a good book. Being surrounded by great friends and family has provided me with a solid foundation that keeps me balanced and grounded where I need to be. I particularly thank God for His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu from whose fountain of wisdom I have constantly drank to quench my thirst for service to fellow man. The Patriotic Front family ...
