LUSAKA CENTRAL CONSTITUTIONAL COURT JUDGMENT: A VICTORY FOR JUSTICE AND A TRIUMPH OF THE PEOPLE

 The Patriotic Front joins the people of Lusaka Central and the rest of Zambia in celebrating and congratulating Minister of Finance Hon Margaret Mhango Mwanakatwe, following the judgement of the Constitutional Court upholding her election as PF Lusaka Central Member of Parliament. 

 We celebrate in humility. For us in the Party it is not a time to gloat, but rather for Hon Mwanakatwe to roll up her sleeves even further to work even harder for the people of Lusaka Central and continue to grow the Zambian economy under the leadership of His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

 We do not view this judgement an opportunity to “rub it in”. Democracy and associated justice is not primarily about the “victor” or the “vanquished”; it is principally about the will of the people.

 Consequently, the Constitutional Court Judgment is a victory for justice and for the people, as it was clear from inception that Hon Mwanakatwe was duly elected. 

 Justice is the constant and perpetual will to allot to every woman and man their due.
  
As Francis Bacon an old time  Scientist and Philosopher  who was also at one time  Attorney General and Lord Chancellor of England once said: “If we do not maintain justice, justice will not maintain us”.
  
We thank God justice has been maintained.
