PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES ON THE DEATH OF MAMA CHIBESA KANKASA

Lusaka, Zambia, 29th October 2018  



Patriotic Front has received news of the of the death of Mama Chibesa Kankasa with extreme shock and profound sadness, particularly that her demise comes just a few days after the nation was celebrating  its 54th Independence day – a day whose origins and cause she significantly contributed to.

She was one of the significant firebrands of Zambia’s Independence struggle.

As a trail blazer for women in leadership and decisions making positions and a key feature of our nation’s development in its earlier years, her indelible legacy will forever be etched in the annals of our nation.

Mama Kankasa was a Matriarch and her wise counsel and encouraging demeanour shall be missed. 

She fought a good fight, ran a faithful race and now a prize from her creator awaits her.

On behalf of the Patriotic Front, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to her surviving family.

Farewell Ba Mama Mutushe mu chibote.

May Her Soul Rest in Peace.
